THERMAL IMAGING AND TESTING.
Thermal Imaging or thermography (hot spot testing) is the process of using a special camera designed to look only for heat by way of infra-red (IR) energy waves.
Infrared technology is a powerful tool that can be used to detect thermal anomalies in electrical systems. While loose connections are the most commonly detected thermal exceptions, overloaded circuits, open circuits, and other electrical defects can pose a great threat to the safety and reliability of electrical systems. Learning to recognize the significance of abnormal heating and the ramifications it has on the operation of an electrical system, legitimizes the use of infrared technology as part of an advanced inspection system.
Infrared thermographers are there for now key players in the electrical maintenance industry and Xtreme Electrical is proud to offer infrared thermography as part of their services.
LIGHTING CONTROL.
The term lighting controls is typically used to indicate stand-alone control of the lighting within a space. This may include occupancy sensors, time clocks, and photocells that are hard-wired to control fixed groups of lights independently. Adjustment occurs manually at each device’s location.
The four common types of lighting controls: are panelboards, dimming controls, addressable controls, and relay-based systems.
The lighting controller evaluates input control signals based on its algorithm and decides whether to adjust lighting power, when to adjust it, and by how much. The controller may be installed as a logic circuit within a standalone control device or as a separate component within a control system.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS.
A simple definition of an EMS is a system to control and monitor energy consuming devices, which may include heating and cooling equipment, fans, pumps, dampers, and lighting. Energy management systems can also be used to control refrigeration equipment, industrial processes, or other systems.
The energy management system can smartly manage the electrical devices inside a building that minimizes energy usage. Also, it makes sure that the comfort of occupants is not compromised. All this brings productivity to the work processes. Energy management can be broadly defined as the proactive, organized, and systematic management of energy use in a building or organization to satisfy both environmental and economic requirements.
Energy management is the practice of using energy more efficiently and effectively in an organization’s operations. Energy is a valuable resource and a cost which can be controlled when managed efficiently and effectively.
GENERATOR AND BACKUP POWER SYSTEMS.
A generator is standby generator is a backup electrical system that operates automatically. Within seconds of a utility outage, an automatic transfer switch senses the power loss, commands the generator to start, and then transfers the electrical load to the generator.
A backup power System is permanently connected to utility power so that while the mains is present the extra large built-in battery charger recharges the batteries. The equipment you want to back up is also permanently connected via the system. Batteries are charged with Eskom power when it is available. Then during a power failure, the inverter automatically switches over and supplies your house or business with energy stored in the battery.
RETAIL, MEDICAL, COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL AND RESIDENTIAL
In retail, the biggest single uses of electricity in the commercial sector are lighting and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Electricity demand in the commercial sector tends to be highest during operating business hours. With medical, the protection of patients, reliability of equipment, and extended lifecycle of components are requirements that distinguish medical devices and medically approved power supplies from other consumer and commercial electronics.
Moreover, when the use of an uninterruptible power supply can mean the difference between success or failure in the applications of these devices, there are understandably stringent safety standards to adhere to. We also supply installations to all Commercial, Industrial, and Residential Premises.
We can assist all construction sites with electrical installations, whether it’s a small or big job we can do it all.
EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEMS.
Emergency lighting plays a critical role in building safety and particularly in an evacuation scenario. It is designed to provide prompt, automatic lighting in an emergency situation when the main power supply is cut and the normal main lighting fails. Central battery systems. Self-contained.
How do emergency lighting circuit works?
Emergency lighting is wired to the building’s power supply for continuous charging of internal batteries to provide backup power for the lighting. This ensures that lights remain alight during a power outage allowing occupants to easily locate the exits should they need to evacuate the building. Egress lighting must be “hardwired,” or served by the building’s primary electrical supply. The most widely used voltage in Emergency Lighting is 6 VDC. Higher voltages equal brighter lights, which could eliminate the need for multiple lights in a given area.
SWITCHGEAR INSTALLATIONS AND UPGRADES.
Electrical switchgear refers to a centralized collection of circuit breakers, fuses, and switches (circuit protection devices) that function to protect, control, and isolate electrical equipment. The switchgear is mainly classified into two types, the outdoors type, and the indoor type. For voltage above 66kV, the output switchgear is used. Because of the high voltage, the building work will unnecessarily increase the installation cost owing to the large spacing between the conductor and the large size of insulators.
A switchgear assembly has two types of components: Power-conducting components, such as switches, circuit breakers, fuses, and lightning arrestors, that conduct or interrupt the flow of electrical power. The frequency of inspection and maintenance of low voltage switchgear should be 3-6 months when new equipment is installed and 1-2 years for existing equipment. However, if problems with switchgear are encountered, the frequency must be shortened.
STANDARD LIGHTING INSTALLATION ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING & COMPLETE NEW INSTALLATIONS.
We offer a wide range of options to customize lighting solutions. For instants, architectural lighting is illumination for building design and function. The term can be synonymous with lighting design. Architectural lighting’s focus is on the building’s exterior or interior aesthetic or character. Lighting is of critical importance in buildings. An adequate level and distribution of light are vital if visual tasks are to be carried out safely and effectively. Good lighting will also improve the internal environment and appearance of a building. Lighting should be used to supplement daylighting, which makes the design, planning, and functionality of lighting one of the most important elements when building. Lighting installation means a fixed electrical lighting system in a building. An adequate level and distribution of light are vital if visual tasks are to be carried out safely and effectively.
NEW CONSTRUCTION, RENOVATIONS, DESIGNS AND SERVICES
Building your new home is very exciting. You can design your space from start to finish and make it exactly how you want it. With so many opportunities to customize your new house, one of the most crucial design elements that often gets overlooked is the electricity. Electricity is one of the most important things in your home—it is used continuously and for almost everything in your home.
Planning out your electrical system and wiring is not just for safety, but also for functionality and organization. When you are building your home, it is important to understand what wiring system you will need. Plus, you need to make sure your electrical service needs can handle everything. The electrical load will depend on the size of your home and even the number of people that will be living there.
